The Front for Defense of Democracy and the Republic (FDR) has warned that the schedule for Senegal's 2027 territorial elections is seriously at risk. Under the electoral code, the latest permissible date for holding the elections is 17 January 2027. The FDR warns that any postponement beyond this deadline would lead to an illegal extension of local mandates and calls for immediate political consultation between the government and opposition forces to ensure the elections occur on time.
