Senegal's And Gueusseum union announces total health‑worker strike on Aug 13‑14
The Alliance of Autonomous Health Syndicates (ASAS) and the And Gueusseum union have called a 48‑hour total strike for 13 and 14 August, with no minimum service and no emergency care provided. The action follows the union’s boycott of the strategic health‑system reform dialogue opened on 6 August by Health Minister Ibrahima Sy.
And Gueusseum’s demands include salary increases, improved working conditions, payment of housing allowances and respect for previously signed agreements. The union, which has never signed the economic and social stability pact, has already staged similar 48‑hour strikes on 9‑10 July and 23‑24 July, signalling a growing escalation in the dispute.
