Senegal's First Lady launches distribution of 750 grain mills to women in Fatick
First Lady Marie Khone Faye inaugurated a national program to distribute 750 grain mills to women entrepreneurs in Senegal's Fatick region. The launch, held with Minister of Family, Social Action and Solidarity Marie Angélique Mame Selbé Diouf, saw the delivery of an initial batch of 53 mills to local economic interest groups (GIEs). The initiative, run through the Fondation Sénégal Solidaire, aims to strengthen community organisations led by women, boost income‑generating activities, and expand support to sectors such as soap making and local product processing. Faye also announced plans to provide training in financial education and access to financing for female economic actors.
The project is part of a broader effort to enhance women's economic empowerment and sustainable development in Senegal, targeting increased productivity and livelihood resilience among female-headed households.
