Aminata Touré leads Kiiraay expansion through local official recruitments

Aminata ‘Mimi’ Touré, leader of the presidential formation Kiiraay Les Patriotes républicains, is leading a strategic effort to expand the ruling majority by recruiting local officials and political cadres.

In a significant political shift, seven mayors from the Fatick department—including the mayors of Diofior and Diaoulé—have officially joined Kiiraay. This collective move to support President Bassirou Diomaye Faye represents a notable erosion of the Alliance pour la République (APR) within its own traditional strongholds, specifically in the Fatick region, which is the home region of former president Macky Sall.

Touré’s strategy focuses on massification and building a robust political structure to compete against the Pastef party. While critics have labeled these movements as ‘transhumance’ and suggested they signal internal divisions within the executive branch, Touré maintains that the goal is to strengthen the presidential coalition through broad political recruitment.
