Senegal's National Assembly faces internal turmoil as MP Abdou Mbow condemns Ousmane Sonko and vice‑president Cheikh Thi

Member of Parliament Abdou Mbow launched a vehement attack on Ousmane Sonko and fellow Pastef deputies, claiming their actions have turned the Senegalese National Assembly into a “circus”. He said, “When a clown is proclaimed king, the palace becomes a circus,” and warned that the lack of proper procedure undermines the institution that represents 18 million Senegalese.

In a separate development, Pastef MP Cheikh Thioro Mbacké announced his resignation from the post of vice‑president of the National Assembly. In a letter addressed to Sonko, he wrote, “I respectfully inform you of my decision to resign … while retaining my mandate as a deputy,” citing personal and political considerations and pledging to continue serving Senegal through his parliamentary role.
