Senegal's OFNAC to publish list of officials who missed asset‑declaration deadline

The deadline set by Senegal's Office national de lutte contre la corruption (OFNAC) for high‑ranking officials to file or update their asset declarations expired on 31 July 2026. Of the 1,594 officials and elected representatives required to comply, only 558 had submitted declarations by mid‑July, a compliance rate of just over one‑third.

OFNAC President Moustapha Kâ described the deadline as “firm” and announced that, from 1 August, the agency will publish the names of those who failed to comply. The law governing the obligation (law n° 2025‑13 of 3 September 2025 and decree n° 2025‑1835 of 18 November 2025) provides for penalties ranging from partial salary withholding and a permanent ban from public office to prison terms of up to four years. Eight ministries and institutions of the former government, dissolved on 22 May 2026, had still not submitted updated lists at the deadline. The forthcoming publication is expected to trigger legal and administrative actions against the listed officials.
