Senegal's National Assembly Says 2026 Finance Bill Not Yet Received

The Senegalese National Assembly issued a statement confirming that it has not regularly received the draft rectificative finance law (LFR) for 2026. On 29 June 2026 the Assembly’s legislative services got a letter from the Government’s General Secretariat transmitting the President’s decree to present the LFR, but the letter did not include the bill itself, which is required to start the parliamentary procedure. The Assembly immediately returned the file to the Government for completion and, as of 16 July 2026, no completed dossier had been received.

Despite media reports suggesting the bill had been deposited, the Assembly clarified that the formal filing process remains unfinished. The pending LFR is listed among several other bills that could be examined in a possible extraordinary session of the Assembly, as lawmakers prepare to address budget adjustments and other legislative priorities.

The clarification aims to correct misinformation circulating on social networks and to ensure the proper legislative protocol is followed before the finance bill can be debated and voted on.
