Senegal's TER train extends service to Blaise Diagne International Airport
Senegal’s Train express régional (TER) has reached a significant operational milestone by extending its service beyond Diamniadio to the Blaise Diagne International Airport (AIBD) in Diass.
Despite initial controversies regarding its cost, route, and utility when the project launched seven years ago, the train has become a vital part of daily life for thousands of Senegalese commuters. Users report improved time management, increased comfort, and greater regularity in their travels.
Following the successful connection to the international airport, plans are being considered for further extensions toward Thiès and other regions. This development aims to provide direct rail access to airport terminals, reducing reliance on road traffic.
