Sengottaiyan backs C Vijayabaskar for Viralimalai by-election

Tamil Nadu Revenue Minister K A Sengottaiyan has expressed confidence in former health minister C Vijayabaskar’s ability to secure victory in the upcoming Viralimalai Assembly constituency by-election. Speaking at a public welfare event in Pudukkottai district, Sengottaiyan stated that Vijayabaskar “knows all the tricks” of politics and will work under the leadership of TVK leader C Joseph Vijay.

Vijayabaskar, a former AIADMK minister, resigned his seat and defected to the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) in July. His departure left the Viralimalai constituency vacant, and while Sengottaiyan hinted at Vijayabaskar’s return to the electoral fray, he did not explicitly confirm if he would be the official TVK candidate. The Election Commission has yet to schedule the by-poll.

During the same event, Sengottaiyan addressed public health concerns regarding rising cancer rates in the district and announced government targets to issue 20 to 25 lakh land pattas across the state by December next year. He also noted the appointment of 1,500 surveyors to address personnel shortages in land administration.
