Senhor do Bonfim Mayor questions motives behind political endorsements

Laércio Júnior, the mayor of Senhor do Bonfim, has raised questions regarding the motivations behind political endorsements during recent public appearances. While appearing alongside state deputy Júnior Nascimento, the mayor urged voters to exercise conscious criteria rather than voting based solely on requests from acquaintances.

Júnior questioned whether such requests are driven by personal interest or gratitude, stating, “Will you vote for a candidate because someone close to you asked? And that person close to you, what is their interest? Did they gain something for this?”

Despite these remarks, the mayor reaffirmed his support for deputies Elmar Nascimento and Júnior Nascimento. The comments have drawn attention due to internal political divisions, as several local councilors and leaders within the mayor's own political group are expected to support different candidates in the upcoming elections.
