Seniat implements new measures to simplify customs documentation

Venezuela's National Integrated Service of Customs and Tax Administration (Seniat) has announced new measures to simplify administrative procedures by eliminating the requirement for physical copies of documents already registered in administrative files. This initiative aims to reduce duplication, save time, and lower costs for citizens and businesses by utilizing existing digital and physical records.

Nelson Ureña, president of the Association of Customs Assistants of Táchira (Asoata), noted that these changes will specifically benefit binational trade on the border with Colombia. By removing the need for redundant documentation and focusing only on missing requirements—such as commercial invoices and specific permits—the measures are expected to reduce operational costs for the private sector and expedite import and export operations.
