Seniat modernizes Venezuelan tax system through digitalization

Venezuela's National Integrated Customs and Tax Administration Service (Seniat) is undergoing a modernization process focused on digitalization and automation. As part of this transition, the agency has introduced a new visual identity and logo that incorporates the national tricolor and eight stars.

Alongside these branding changes, Seniat has updated the design of the Tax Information Registry (RIF) to improve readability through organized data boxes and a QR code for validation. The agency has also enabled a new RIF format via its digital portal that does not include an expiration date, aiming to simplify tax processes for individuals by eliminating the need for periodic renewals.

In terms of enforcement, authorities are now requiring that the RIF be clearly visible in all digital advertising, including social media profiles, banners, and promotional videos, to ensure commercial transparency. Meanwhile, in the Guanipa municipality, local tax authorities (Satrig) are also implementing digital automation to reduce the need for physical inspections for compliant businesses.

Separately, economic analysts note that Venezuela continues to face high inflation due to fiscal deficits being covered by monetary emission, suggesting that long-term stability requires deeper institutional reforms.
