SENIAT updates Venezuela's tax registry and billing rules
The Venezuelan National Integrated Customs and Tax Administration Service (SENIAT) has implemented significant changes to the Tax Information Registry (RIF) through Administrative Provision SNAT/2026/0080, published in Official Gazette No. 43.435.
Key updates include the elimination of the RIF expiration date, granting the document indefinite validity and removing the need for periodic renewals. Additionally, the requirement for the prior homologation of billing systems has been abolished, removing technical barriers for new taxpayers entering the formal system.
While the RIF no longer expires, taxpayers remain legally obligated to keep their information updated. Any changes to business names, fiscal addresses, legal representatives, shareholders, or economic activities must be reported digitally to SENIAT. The RIF number must continue to be included in invoices, contracts, accounting books, and advertising materials.
