Senigallia hosts 11th Festival of Outsider Art and Irregular Art

The city of Senigallia is hosting the 11th edition of the Festival of Outsider Art and Irregular Art from October 16 to 18, 2026. Organized by Lapsus, an art therapy atelier founded by Andrea Simonetti, this year’s theme is ‘Atelier d'arte: quali mondi?’

The festival aims to highlight the creativity of artists working outside traditional exhibition channels and conventional aesthetic norms. The program includes exhibitions, conferences, workshops, participatory performances, and collaborative sessions distributed across various locations, including public squares, libraries, and exhibition spaces.

Originally conceived in 2014 by the Comitato il Nobel per i Disabili and the Bologna Mental Health Department, the festival seeks to challenge traditional definitions of art by demonstrating that creativity can emerge regardless of formal training or institutional recognition. Beyond its artistic focus, the event serves a social purpose by providing visibility to marginalized individuals through art as a tool for expression and participation.
