Senior cricket updates for Berkshire and Sussex teams

Senior cricket teams from Berkshire and Sussex have seen significant activity in recent regional and national competitions.

Berkshire’s 50+ 1st XI secured a place in the Plate Final after a six-wicket victory over Devon. Mandip Sohi scored 63 runs, while Pete De Lange contributed an unbeaten 50. The team is scheduled to face Surrey at Kibworth Cricket Club on September 13. Additionally, the Berkshire 70+ 1st XI finished as runners-up in the Bowl competition after a semi-final win against Norfolk, though they were later defeated by Suffolk in the final.

In the 60+ National Vase Final, Sussex faced Yorkshire Ridings at Cropredy CC. After Yorkshire posted 214 runs, Sussex faced a difficult chase on an uneven pitch. Despite falling to 130–6, a late partnership between Andy Hill, who scored 43, and Mick Webb, who remained 34 not out, brought Sussex to the final over needing six runs to win. The match concluded with a narrow result as Hill was stumped on the penultimate ball.
