Senior dancers capture attention with performances in Rome's Piazza Testaccio
Two senior citizens, 70-year-old retired dance teacher Pasquale Iannone and 79-year-old Elisa Fava, have gained widespread attention for performing choreographed dances in Rome’s Piazza Testaccio.
Performing to songs such as Michael Jackson’s ‘Beat It’, the duo aims to bring life to the neighborhood squares and encourage an active lifestyle among the elderly. Their performance, which reportedly lasted about 20 minutes across several songs, was captured by a bystander and shared on social media, garnering millions of views. Observers noted that the pair performed without seeking tips or professional filming, focusing instead on the joy of dancing.
Rome Mayor Roberto Gualtieri has expressed his congratulations for the performance, which has been praised for fostering a sense of community in the heart of the Testaccio district.
