Senior Fest in Strzyżew, Poland Draws Hundreds of Elderly Performers
On July 25, 2026 the village of Strzyżew hosted the 11th edition of a senior music festival organized by the Dobrzyca municipality. The event, promoted under the slogan “Choć jestem seniorem, to żyję z humorem” (“Even as a senior, I live with humor”), brought together more than a dozen musical groups from the counties of Pleszewski, Jarociński, Gostyński, Krotoszyński and Średzki. Each ensemble performed three songs, beginning with the host troupe Błękitne Modraczki. Other notable participants included Wesoła Kapela, Maki i Chabry from Gizałki, and a roster of local bands such as Zawsze Młodzi, Familia, Głuchowianie and Złota Jesień. The song “Babi Ląd” was highlighted as the day’s hit. The atmosphere was described as family‑friendly and lively, with seniors dancing outdoors rather than watching television. The celebration also marked the 75th birthday of Stefania Kaczmarek, chair of the local senior association, who was honored with a public toast.
