Senior fitness initiatives launched in Chile and Mexico

Various initiatives are being launched to promote physical activity and healthy lifestyles among senior citizens in Chile and Mexico.

In Las Cruces, Chile, a new community organization called ‘Personas Mayores Gimnasia Sénior Las Cruces’ was established. The group, consisting of 17 members, meets three times a week for gymnastics sessions led by instructor Valentina Ratamal. Beyond physical exercise, the group aims to collaborate on community projects, including recreational outings and social gatherings to foster companionship and emotional well-being.

In Mexico, the gym chain Smart Fit has partnered with the National Institute for Older Persons (INAPAM) to launch the ‘Más movimiento, más independencia’ program. The initiative offers a 25 percent discount on monthly fees for new members under the Smart Plan. The program includes free introductory classes, such as a 1970s-themed dance and conditioning session, and will feature a physical activation session during the Meeting of Senior Clubs on August 28.
