Fatal and Serious Traffic Collisions Sweep Germany and Austria in July 2026

A series of severe traffic collisions were reported across Germany in early July 2026. A head‑on crash on the B173 near Michelau left a 71‑year‑old driver dead, while a frontal collision on the B68 near Bersenbrück killed a 75‑year‑old woman. In Ludwigsburg, a 64‑year‑old cyclist died after a frontal impact with a vehicle, and in Mülheim‑Kärlich a 62‑year‑old motorcyclist was killed when his bike collided with a city bus.

Other serious incidents included a car‑ambulance collision in Kempten that injured two rescue workers, a truck‑trailer crash on the A3 that caused a second female fatality, and a multi‑vehicle accident on the B268 near Losheim that left two people seriously injured. A child‑bike collision in Unterschweinach caused only material damage.
