Senior Income Tax officer found dead in Katni rest house
Manvendra Pratap Singh, a senior Income Tax officer originally from Barabanki, was found dead in a locked room at a departmental rest house in the Bargawan area of Katni, Madhya Pradesh.
The officer, who was posted in Katni for the 2024-25 term, was discovered by staff after he failed to respond to repeated knocks and calls. Upon entering the room, police found his body on the bed. Preliminary inspections revealed no visible injury marks on the body and no suicide note was recovered from the scene.
While authorities suspect the death may have been due to a heart attack, the Madhwanagar police are treating the circumstances as suspicious until further investigation is completed. A post-mortem examination will be conducted once the officer's family arrives to determine the exact cause of death.
