Senior Summer Care Programs Launch in Olivone, Switzerland and San Severo, Italy
The Vita Serena summer camp in Olivone, Switzerland, is hosting a group of elderly guests from July 11 to 24. Volunteers, including young students and retirees, provide meals, daily Mass, gentle exercise, and creative workshops. The Swiss army also supplies a few militiamen to support the event, which aims to combat growing loneliness among older adults.
In San Severo, Italy, the Casa di Riposo “Concetta Masselli” runs a summer schedule for its residents that includes communal breakfasts, gentle gymnastics, art and craft sessions, music therapy, and escorted garden walks. Operators collaborate with local associations and volunteers to foster social interaction and maintain physical and cognitive health. Both initiatives emphasize the role of volunteerism in creating a supportive, social environment for seniors during the summer months.
