Seniors in Moldova and Romania engage in cultural and artistic festivals
Senior citizens in Moldova and Romania are participating in various cultural initiatives designed to promote active aging and creative expression.
In Bălți, Moldova, the ‘Bunica și Bunelul FEST’ festival brought together participants from across the region. The event featured competitions such as ‘Miss Bunica și Mister Bunelul’ and showcased talents in dance, song, and handicrafts. The Drochia-based ‘Ambasadorii Maturității’ group was notably represented by Stelian and Nadejda Andriuța, who won the ‘Most Ingenious Couple’ title.
In Romania, the ‘Atelier 2026’ creative camp in Târgu Mureș hosted over 40 visual artists, many of whom are seniors. The week-long event allowed participants from various cities to engage in painting, graphics, and watercolor. Organizers noted that the camp serves as a therapeutic space for artists to express themselves through diverse techniques, including traditional and innovative methods.
