Senko Pličanič eyes Ljubljana mayoral candidacy

Senko Pličanič, a member of the Demokrati party and former Minister of Justice, is considering a run for Mayor of Ljubljana. Pličanič confirmed to Televizija Slovenija that negotiations are underway with parties from the current governing coalition and Resnica to support his candidacy as an independent.

Pličanič stated that Ljubljana and other municipalities require competent management and a change following the long-term leadership of the current administration. He noted that municipal management topics, such as spatial planning, environmental protection, energy, and transport, align with his professional expertise.

In related developments, Janez Logar announced that the Demokrati party is preparing for local elections by forming lists and programs across Slovenian municipalities. Logar emphasized the need for a strong candidate in Ljubljana to end the 20-year rule of Zoran Janković.
