Senne Lammens reflects on recovery after World Cup error
Belgium goalkeeper Senne Lammens has reflected on the emotional difficulty of recovering from a costly error during the 2026 World Cup match against Spain, which resulted in his team's elimination.
Following that setback, Lammens sought to redeem himself during a recent match against Italy. The 24-year-old goalkeeper made several key saves to contribute to a clean sheet, an effort he says was intended to demonstrate his quality to the national team staff.
Lammens addressed the ongoing competition for the starting position with Thibaut Courtois. While acknowledging Courtois as one of the best goalkeepers in the world, Lammens stated he is focused on performing his best regardless of the selection outcome. He noted that head coach Mark van Bommel will eventually have to make a definitive choice regarding the position.
