Sennheiser launches Momentum 5 with better ANC, replaceable battery

Sennheiser announced the Momentum 5 Wireless headphones, the latest update to its flagship over‑ear line. The new model keeps the familiar large‑cup design but adds a number of hardware upgrades. Active‑noise‑cancellation is claimed to be up to three times more effective, thanks to eight microphones (four per ear) and a redesigned DSP. Battery life is rated at 57 hours with ANC on, and the 700 mAh battery can be removed and replaced by the user with a small Phillips‑head screwdriver, extending the product’s lifespan.

Audio quality is supported by the same 42 mm drivers, Hi‑Res Audio certification and Qualcomm Snapdragon Sound, enabling aptX Lossless (CD‑quality 16‑bit/44.1 kHz) on compatible phones such as Sony and Motorola devices. The headphones ship with Bluetooth 5.4 and are engineered for a future Bluetooth 6.0 firmware update. Day‑one software updates will also add Dolby Atmos with head‑tracking and an eight‑band EQ via the Smart Control Plus app. The travel case is about 20 % smaller and the packaging is plastic‑free.

Pricing varies by market: US$399.99 (available from 16 June), £329.90 in the UK, €399.90 in the EU and AU$749 in Australia. Colours offered are black, white and denim blue. The launch is scheduled for late June in most regions, with the product reaching stores on 30 June in the UK and 25 June in Australia.
