Senoia Animal Hospital accused of faking euthanasia of family pug

A Georgia family has filed a formal complaint with the Georgia State Board of Veterinary Medicine after discovering their four-year-old pug, Cha Cha, was not euthanized as they had been led to believe.

In March 2026, Rebecca Belote of Coweta County took Cha Cha to Senoia Animal Hospital after the dog exhibited symptoms of organ failure and diabetic ketoacidosis. The clinic recommended euthanasia, a procedure the family paid $716.50 to perform. Months later, Belote discovered a Facebook photo showing the dog alive and appearing healthy in the home of a clinic employee.

According to Belote, the employee’s husband confirmed the dog had recovered and was living with them. When the family confronted Senoia Animal Hospital, the clinic reportedly retrieved the dog from the employee and performed the euthanasia to cover up the incident. Belote stated that the clinic denied any dognapping had occurred and has since declined to comment through legal representation.
