Sense and Sensibility audiobook sees surge in Spotify listens
The upcoming film adaptation of Jane Austen’s ‘Sense and Sensibility’ is driving significant engagement with the original source material. Spotify reports that listening hours for the audiobook have increased by 80% over the last month, with weekly listeners growing by more than 360% since the start of the summer.
Data from the streaming service indicates that younger audiences are a primary driver of this renewed interest, with women aged 25–34 representing 40% of UK listeners. Spotify books editor Roshni Radia noted that big-screen adaptations appear to be creating a “new wave of fandom” rather than replacing the books.
In tandem with the rising interest in the story, actress Daisy Edgar-Jones has been promoting the film through a distinctive press tour. Her fashion choices have blended contemporary trends, such as lingerie-inspired looks, with Regency-era aesthetics to reflect the period setting of the film.
