Sense and Sensibility film starring Daisy Edgar-Jones set for 2026 release

A new film adaptation of Jane Austen’s ‘Sense and Sensibility’, directed by Georgia Oakley, is releasing in theaters. The film opens in the United Kingdom and Ireland on September 25, 2026, followed by a United States release on October 16.

Starring Daisy Edgar-Jones as Elinor Dashwood and Esmé Creed-Miles as Marianne Dashwood, the production aims to offer a more naturalistic and intimate interpretation of the Regency-era story compared to the celebrated 1995 version. Screenwriter Diana Reid noted that the adaptation focuses on the central relationship between the two sisters as the narrative spine, rather than prioritizing romantic subplots.

The film is being distributed by Focus Features and Working Title, with a wide release in the UK and Ireland spanning 725 cinemas. The cast also includes George MacKay, Caitríona Balfe, and Fiona Shaw.
