Senyo Hosi advocates for policy certainty to drive African economic growth

Economic policy analyst Senyo K. Hosi has called for a deliberate balance between government authority and private enterprise to drive Africa’s economic transformation. Speaking at the Students and Young Professionals African Liberty Academy (SYPALA) 2026 in Accra, Hosi emphasized that both government action and inaction constitute public policy.

Hosi argued that for sustainable growth, African nations require capable states that provide policy certainty, the rule of law, and productive infrastructure. He noted that investors are more likely to commit resources when institutions are reliable, contracts are enforced, and regulations remain predictable.

Additionally, Hosi highlighted the need to strengthen human capital, warning that a mismatch between educational outputs and industry requirements is a policy failure that leads to youth frustration. He advocated for a collaborative environment where governments set clear rules and invest in public goods, allowing competitive businesses to create value and jobs.
