Seocho-gu accelerates reconstruction and AI industry projects

Seocho-gu in Seoul is accelerating several major initiatives marking the first 100 days of its current administration. Through its ‘Rapid Start 100-Day Project,’ the district is focusing on urban reconstruction, youth policies, AI industry growth, and large-scale private development.

In the reconstruction sector, the district’s ‘Rapid Reconstruction Support Group’ has successfully moved the Bangbae Shin Dong-a project's start date forward by three months. Other projects, including Bangbae District 5 and Banpo District 3, have also seen shortened completion timelines. The district is also expanding support for apartment remodeling projects.

Youth policy is being driven by direct participation. Following an online vote by 1,018 residents, ten specific policies were selected, including support for performance ticket purchases and job training linked to internships. Additionally, the district is integrating administrative and legal support services into an AI-based platform.

To foster new growth industries, Seocho-gu has launched a professional advisory group consisting of 16 experts in venture capital, AI semiconductors, and generative AI. This group will help establish the ‘Seocho AICT Belt’ to attract and support high-tech companies. Long-term infrastructure projects, such as the Wirye-Gwacheon Line and the undergrounding of the Gyeongbu Expressway, are being managed through strengthened public-private consultative bodies.
