Seocho-gu to host Joseon Dynasty history and palace tour program

Seocho-gu is launching a humanities program titled ‘Reading the Life and Power of Joseon through Palaces’ at the Yangjae Library. In collaboration with the Institute for the Translation of Korean Classics, the program will run from September 3 to November 28.

The initiative, selected for the ‘2026 Humanities on the Road’ project hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korean Library Association, is divided into three parts. It combines academic lectures based on classical records with field visits to Gyeongbokgung and Changdeokgung palaces.

The first part focuses on the history, royal authority, and diplomacy of Joseon palaces. The second part examines the daily lives of officials and residents within the palace grounds. The final part explores the politics of King Sejong the Great and views Joseon society from the perspective of the common people. Each segment is open to 20 adults, with applications available via the Yangjae Library website.
