Seogwipo City launches training to prevent agricultural subsidy cuts
Seogwipo City is organizing in-person training sessions for farmers who have not yet completed the mandatory education required for the 2026 Basic Public Interest Direct Payment system. Approximately 2,964 farms, representing 14% of the 20,924 applicants, have yet to fulfill this requirement.
Failure to complete the mandatory training by the September 30 deadline may result in a 10% reduction in direct payment subsidies. The training sessions, scheduled to take place between September 7 and September 23, will be held at local township and community centers to assist elderly farmers or those less familiar with online platforms.
The curriculum covers essential topics including the details of the public interest direct payment system, the public functions of agriculture and rural areas, compliance requirements for farmers, and measures to prevent fraudulent claims.
