Seogwipo City to hold public hearing for 2027–2030 social security plan

Seogwipo City is hosting a public hearing on the 8th to gather citizen input for the establishment of the ‘6th Seogwipo City Community Social Security Plan’, which will cover the period from 2027 to 2030.

As a statutory mid-term plan established every four years, the initiative aims to define the direction of social security policies and major projects based on local welfare demands and regional conditions. To prepare for this phase, the city has formed a task force comprising private experts, members of the Community Social Security Council, and government officials. They have conducted social security surveys, a 100-person roundtable discussion, and various workshops to identify policy tasks.

The 6th plan focuses on strengthening preventive and preemptive care for citizens in need, while expanding coverage to essential areas such as health, employment, and housing. The proposed vision is ‘A Seogwipo City where everyone enjoys happiness in daily life’, centered on four strategic pillars: integrated community care, customized health care, stable employment and housing, and enhanced culture and leisure activities.

Following the public hearing, the city will review and incorporate the feedback into the plan. The final version of the 6th Community Social Security Plan is expected to be confirmed by the end of September after deliberation by the Community Social Security Council.
