Seohae-gu Council member urges acoustic expertise for cultural center remodeling

Seohae-gu Council member Lee Se-ri has called for enhanced acoustic expertise during the remodeling of the Seohae-gu Cultural Center. The project aims to transform the aging small performance hall into a 200-seat venue dedicated to classical music.

With a total budget of 3.3 billion won, the renovation includes stage expansion, seat spacing adjustments, and the establishment of an architectural acoustic environment. During a recent planning and administration committee meeting, Lee emphasized that the essence of a classical venue lies in its acoustics. She noted that technical details—such as reflectors, stage structure, and even the absorption, moisture retention, fabric, and cushion thickness of seating—critically impact the hall's overall sound quality.

Lee urged authorities to ensure that specialized acoustic firms are involved during the bidding and procurement stages, as seating and structural elements are difficult to modify once completed. The project is scheduled for completion by December 2028.
