Seongbuk-gu installs new crosswalks near Bukaksan Neighborhood Park

Seongbuk-gu has installed new crosswalks and traffic safety facilities near Bukaksan Neighborhood Park to improve pedestrian access and safety. The area, located around 133 Daesagwan-ro in Seongbuk-dong, was previously described as being isolated like an ‘island’ due to surrounding roads and a lack of safe entry points.

Local residents had long requested these improvements to navigate the busy intersection between Jeongneung-Bukaksan-ro and Seongbuk-dong Daesagwan-ro. Following a design process in 2025 and approval from the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, the district implemented the project through a collaboration between the Park and Greenery Division, the Road Division, and the Traffic Administration Division.

In addition to the new crosswalks, the district installed road markings and traffic signs to alert drivers to pedestrian zones, aiming to prevent accidents. Seongbuk-gu Mayor Lee Seung-ro stated that the project successfully connects the park to the local community while resolving long-standing resident grievances regarding accessibility.
