Seongnam and Iksan launch free flu vaccination programs
Following a national influenza advisory in South Korea, Seongnam and Iksan cities have announced schedules for free flu vaccinations to combat rising infection rates.
In Seongnam, the city is providing free vaccinations to all citizens through April 30, 2026, utilizing 542 designated medical clinics. The program, which has been running for four years, involves an investment of 12.6 billion won to secure trivalent vaccines. Vaccination schedules are staggered by age: children (6 months to 14 years) and pregnant women begin on September 21, followed by those aged 75 and older on October 6, and various other age groups and vulnerable populations through mid-October.
In Iksan, the vaccination drive begins on September 21 for children (6 months to 14 years) and pregnant women. The city is also providing free shots for specific vulnerable groups, including low-income earners, national merit recipients, and residents of social welfare facilities. To prevent overcrowding, elderly vaccination groups will be scheduled sequentially starting October 6 for those aged 75 and older, October 12 for those aged 70–74, and October 15 for those aged 65–69.
