Seongnam City begins Bundang reconstruction selection process
Seongnam City has officially commenced the evaluation process for the second phase of special maintenance zone designations in Bundang New Town. Following the deadline for final document submissions, the city is now reviewing applications to select 12,000 households from a massive pool of interest.
A total of 43 cases covering 50 zones and 60,037 households applied for the designation, representing 5.5 times the annual target of 12,000 households. All areas that submitted preliminary proposals in July successfully moved forward to the final submission stage, indicating high local demand for urban renewal.
One notable project involves the integrated reconstruction of the Jeongja-ilro 42, 43, and 44 zones. After incorporating feedback from the city's advisory committee, the plan was adjusted to include 3,873 households with a maximum height of 42 floors. The revised plan also increases parking availability to 1.8 spaces per household to improve residential quality.
Mayor Shin Sang-jin noted the intense competition for limited annual quotas and stated that the city will actively consult with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and Gyeonggi Province to discuss expanding or lifting these annual limits to reduce the burden on residents.
