Seongnam City and Nagoya City to cooperate on high-tech industry and elderly care
Seongnam Mayor Shin Sang-jin visited Nagoya, Japan, from August 23 to 25 to establish a cooperation framework with Nagoya Mayor Hiroshi Ichiro. The two cities agreed to share expertise in high-tech industries, addressing super-aging societies, and medical-care systems.
During the visit, Mayor Shin inspected Vantelin Dome Nagoya to gather insights for Seongnam’s planned baseball stadium construction, focusing on multi-purpose cultural space utilization. The Seongnam delegation also met with the United Nations Centre for Regional Development (UNCRD) to discuss cooperation for the 17th Asia Sustainable Transport (EST) Forum, scheduled to be held in Seongnam in 2027.
Additionally, the Mayor visited home-care medical institutions and long-term care facilities in Nagoya to study Japanese elderly care models, aiming to integrate these practices into Seongnam’s own end-of-life care initiatives.
