Seongnam City to select 25,000 households for Bundang reconstruction

Seongnam City has announced a plan to select approximately 25,000 households for reconstruction within the Bundang New Town area. The plan includes roughly 10,000 households for 2027 and an additional 15,000 households to be managed as ‘preliminary special maintenance zones’ between 2028 and 2030, with approximately 5,000 households selected annually during that period.

To improve predictability for residents and reduce the administrative burden of annual applications, the city is introducing a new ‘preliminary special maintenance zone’ system. This approach allows residents to prepare for reconstruction more stably. Proposals for these zones can be submitted by resident representative groups or preliminary project implementers, provided they secure consent from more than half of the land and building owners in the area.

Selection will be based on a relative evaluation of submitted plans. The city expects to decide on the designation and timing for the 25,000 households by September 2027. Following the selection, designated areas will undergo public inspections, city council reviews, and consultations with Gyeonggi Province before being officially notified in December of the same year.
