Seongnam Mayor visits Nagoya to study elderly care and urban cooperation

Seongnam Mayor Shin Sang-jin is visiting Nagoya, Japan, for a three-day trip starting August 23 to study advanced medical, nursing, and caregiving models for super-aged societies. The visit aims to inform the development of the ‘Seongnam-style end-of-life care at home’ policy by observing Japan’s community-based integrated care systems.

The delegation will visit home medical care institutions and long-term care facilities to examine how elderly residents can continue living in their familiar communities. Mayor Shin is also scheduled to meet with Nagoya Mayor Ichiro Hirosawa to discuss policy sharing and expand cooperation in industry and economy.

Additionally, the delegation will visit Vantelin Dome Nagoya to benchmark stadium construction for a project in Seongnam. They will also meet with the United Nations Centre for Regional Development (UNCRD) to discuss cooperation for the 17th Asia Sustainable Transport (EST) Forum, which Seongnam is set to host in 2027.
