Lima celebrates Señor de los Milagros procession
The sacred image of the Señor de los Milagros underwent its second procession through the historic center of Lima on Sunday, October 18. A significant highlight of the event was the image's entry into the Government Palace, marking its first visit to the presidential seat in 40 years, since 1986.
President Keiko Fujimori, accompanied by Prime Minister Luis Galarreta and members of the Cabinet, received the image in the Patio de Honor. The ceremony included a floral carpet display and honors rendered by the Mariscal Domingo Nieto Cavalry Regiment. The procession also visited the Lima Municipality, the Archbishop's Palace, and the Congress of the Republic.
In the Plaza Mayor, the Metropolitan Municipality of Lima honored the image with elaborate floral carpets made of flowers, sawdust, and grains. Meanwhile, in Tacna, local organizations like Radio Uno held tributes featuring musical performances. Authorities have issued safety recommendations for the thousands of devotees attending, including advice on hydration, sun protection, and navigating crowds to prevent medical emergencies.
