Seoul districts Jung-gu and Gwanak-gu submit supplementary budgets

Seoul's Jung-gu and Gwanak-gu districts have submitted new supplementary budget proposals to their respective district councils to bolster welfare, infrastructure, and local economies.

Jung-gu has proposed a 31.5 billion won budget focused on urban renewal, including district unit planning for Pildong and research for the redevelopment of the Chungmu Art Center. The plan also allocates funds for a new district office building and various welfare programs for the elderly and pregnant women. To support local businesses, the budget includes funds for alleyway environment improvements and the issuance of local gift certificates. The proposal is expected to be finalized following a council vote on September 14.

Gwanak-gu has submitted a 52.5 billion won supplementary budget, bringing its total budget to 1.234 trillion won. Key allocations include 10.7 billion won for welfare services such as livelihood and housing benefits, as well as funds for urban infrastructure like the Samsung-dong complex office building and climate-responsive urban forests. The budget also aims to stimulate the economy through the Gwanak S-Valley venture ecosystem and local gift certificates. The proposal is scheduled for finalization on the 16th of next month.
