Seoul Gangnam Police and Prosecutors Raid Illegal Medical Clinics and Discipline Officer
Seoul’s Gangnam police station placed a senior team leader on standby pending investigation after allegations that he leaked the identity of a whistle‑blower who reported illegal activity at a local massage shop. The officer, identified only as A, is accused of sharing the complainant’s personal details with the business, prompting an internal review by the police oversight office.
At the same time, a joint investigation team comprising prosecutors, police and officials from health and tax agencies conducted extensive raids on a number of so‑called “office‑manager hospitals” in Gangnam. The raids seized contracts, financial records and computer data to determine whether non‑licensed individuals were operating the clinics and whether medical licences were being misused. The operation follows a broader crackdown on illegal medical facilities that lack proper accreditation.
Both actions reflect heightened scrutiny of unlawful practices in the Gangnam district, targeting both law‑enforcement misconduct and unlicensed medical enterprises.
