Seoul issues 265 billion won in gift certificates for Chuseok

The Seoul Metropolitan Government is issuing 265 billion won worth of Seoul Love Gift Certificates ahead of the Chuseok holiday. The issuance includes 80 billion won in metropolitan-wide certificates and 185 billion won in district-specific certificates.

In a first-time initiative, the city has allocated 8 billion won of the metropolitan certificates specifically for senior citizens (those born before 1961) to ensure they are not disadvantaged by the speed of mobile purchasing. This priority window runs from September 14 to 17 via the Seoul Pay+ app. These certificates offer a 5% discount and a 2% payback, totaling a 7% benefit, though they cannot be gifted and must be used by the purchaser.

General metropolitan certificates will be sold on September 18, with purchase times divided by birth year to manage server traffic. District-specific certificates will be released sequentially across 24 districts from September 15 to 18. Some districts, such as Jung-gu, Gangseo, Guro, Geumcheon, and Gangnam, offer additional payback incentives.

Payment methods have been expanded to include Npay Money, and the Seoul Pay QR system will now support Kakao Pay, Naver Financial, and Toss Place terminals.
