Seoul launches free outdoor cinema and night‑camping programs on the Han River

Seoul city opened a series of free summer night cultural events. On August 1 the media‑art platform at Sejong Plaza hosted a small outdoor cinema showing the animated film *Little Amélie*, with 60 seats available through pre‑registration and on‑site sign‑ups. A second pilot, the “River‑side Mosquito‑net Cinema” on Nodeul Island under the Han River bridge, ran on August 15‑16, screening *Troll: Band Together* and *Sing 2 Together* in large mosquito‑net shelters that accommodate up to four people per team.

In parallel, the city operates a temporary night‑camping site called “Han River Night‑Ping” at Yeouido and Ttukseom parks for the whole month of August. The site is open daily from 5 p.m. to 9 a.m. and offers 4‑person tents or shade‑canopies for rent, as well as silent‑DJ parties, headphone‑based music, and other night‑time activities such as yoga and drone shows. The programs are part of a pilot to expand media‑art platforms into permanent night‑time cultural offerings across Seoul’s key public spaces.
