Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon lauded for child‑care program enabling working mother’s re‑employment

On April 4, 2024, Seoul Mayor Oh Se‑hoon visited the Dongjak‑gu "Our Neighborhood Kiwoom Center" to inspect the "Visiting Children Seoul Fitness Center" program. During the visit a 40‑year‑old mother, who had been out of the workforce for 13 years, handed him a handwritten thank‑you note. She said the center’s temporary child‑care service and the "Dun‑dun Meal" lunch program allowed her to resume work as a social worker, easing the burden of caring for her two elementary‑school children during school vacations.

The Kiwoom Center provides short‑term care for parents who need emergency coverage and offers affordable, nutritious meals (about 2,000 won) for children. The mother praised the initiative, stating, “Thanks to the solid care fence, a career‑break woman could become a member of society again,” and highlighted how the program helped her balance work and parenting responsibilities.
