Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon welcomes Democratic Party's shift toward cooperation

Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon expressed relief regarding a shift in stance from the Democratic Party of Korea, noting that the opposition has signaled a willingness to cooperate on key municipal issues. During a meeting with the People Power Party Seoul City Chapter on the 30th, Oh commented on recent statements by Democratic Party representative Kim Min-seok, which suggested the opposition is not solely focused on opposing the Mayor's administration.

Specifically, Oh highlighted the Democratic Party's move toward a more cautious approach regarding the construction of youth rental housing in Yongsan Park. He also noted positive signals regarding the preservation of the ‘Garden of Gratitude.’ Despite a political landscape in Seoul where the Democratic Party holds many district head and city council positions, Oh emphasized his hope for bipartisan cooperation to improve the quality of life for Seoul citizens.

Attendees of the meeting, including People Power Party officials Cho Eun-hee and Shin Dong-wook, discussed the need for continued dialogue and support for the Mayor to navigate legal and political challenges, ensuring that essential city projects and budgets are not sidelined by political conflict.
