Seoul Metro wins award for lost and found home delivery service
Seoul Metro has received the Grand Prize in the Public Innovation category at the ‘2026 Korea Local Government Awards,’ hosted by the Korea Local Government Studies Association. The award recognizes the company’s ‘Lost and Found Home Delivery Service,’ the first of its kind among domestic urban railway operators.
In 2023, over 160,000 lost items were reported in the Seoul subway system. Previously, citizens had to visit designated lost and found centers in person, which posed challenges for office workers during weekdays and residents living outside of Seoul. Launched in July, the new service allows users to receive their belongings at a preferred location, such as their home or workplace, through non-face-to-face delivery.
This initiative follows the previous introduction of the ‘Tto-ta Lost and Found Delivery Service,’ which allowed items to be collected from lockers at specific stations. The home delivery expansion has received positive feedback from users, particularly those seeking to reduce travel time and costs. The service model is reportedly attracting interest from other railway operators.
