Seoul Metropolitan Government reviews 5-year progress of rapid integrated planning
The Seoul Metropolitan Government is hosting a workshop on the 29th to discuss the achievements and future direction of its ‘Rapid Integrated Planning’ initiative. Since its introduction in 2021, the program has designated 214 redevelopment zones, paving the way for the construction of approximately 310,000 housing units.
A key outcome of the initiative is the significant reduction in administrative timelines; the period required to designate a redevelopment zone has been cut from approximately five years to around two years. The program works by providing administrative support and planning assistance to private redevelopment projects from their early stages, helping to coordinate opinions between residents and relevant agencies while easing urban planning regulations.
The upcoming workshop will involve approximately 140 stakeholders, including planners, government officials, and experts. Discussions will focus on improving management systems, easing regulations, and enhancing the execution of housing supply. Proposed measures include adjusting profitability correction factors, upgrading semi-residential areas, and expanding integrated reviews to further accelerate urban redevelopment.
