Seoul National University Bundang Hospital partners with HIMSS for medical AI

Seoul National University Bundang Hospital has signed a memorandum of understanding with the U.S.-based Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) to advance digital healthcare and medical artificial intelligence (AI) innovation. The agreement, signed during the HIMSS26 APAC event in Singapore, designates the hospital as a ‘Global Knowledge and Research Partner’ for a three-year term ending in August 2029.

Bundang Seoul National University Hospital has a history of high-level certifications from HIMSS, including being the first outside the U.S. to achieve Stage 7 of the Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model (EMRAM). It also recently became the first in the Asia-Pacific region to achieve Stage 7 in the Modernized Analytics Maturity Model (AMAM).

The partnership will focus on joint national research projects linking HIMSS evaluation models with digital health indicators, medical AI consulting, and joint contributions to international academic journals. The collaboration aims to establish clinical AI technologies and operational systems as international standards while expanding hospital networks across Asia and other global regions.
